Tropical Mood: Exploring Krabi and Koh Poda

When we first got to Krabi I thought that we had made the wrong choice. It wasn’t the barefeet island setting with ivory sands and resplendent turqoise waters that we expected and the main reason, I guess, is because Krabi is actually not an island.

However, as the days passed we really started to appreciate this place and its hidden gems. The waters are full of life and we spent our time playing with the clams, crabs, sea snails ( I’m not sure if they enjoyed it as we did but at least we didn’t eat them) and brightly coloured fish.

The low tide in the afternoon also gives the opportunity to discover the adjacent beaches, otherwise reachable only by boat. The wild beauty of the imposing cliffs made me stare in awe – for hours I would like to say – but it was only minutes, as you can never know when the high tide will start ๐Ÿ™‚

From Krabi we went for a one day trip to the nearest islandKoh Poda ย – which is uninhabited and blessed with a laidback athmosphere and captivating maritime ambience, a truly desert island paradise and the dream of every tropical vacationer.

Overall Krabi is a pleasant and easily reachable spot, perfect for a respite from the toils of the busy city life. It is also a great strarting point for discovering the nearby islands like Koh Lanta, Phuket, Ko Phi Phi , James Bond Island, ecc.

P.S. As you can notice from photos it was the first time I saw monkeys in their natural habitat ๐Ÿ˜€

P.P.S. At the beginning I thought that Krabi got its name because the beaches are full of crabs, but actually it means a sword.

P.P.P.S. If you can’t wait to visit check where you could stay here.
