Pitti Street Style: How to be the perfect dandy

Yesterday I went to Pitti in Florence which is one of the biggest menswear events. 90% of the guys had chosen the dandy style and after five hours and more than 1000 photos I think that I know which are its distinctive elements.

Here is what you need to do if you want achieve the neat dandy look:

  • Wear a panama hat
  • Wear pants with ankle-lenght cropped cut
  • Forget the socks and wear a manklet (male anklet)
  • Layer with a gilet
  • Grow a beard or French style moustache
  • Use a lapel flower/pin
  • Wear mirrored sunglasses
  • Use a key ring chain with colorful stones to break the symmetry of the trousers
  • Add a touch of sophistication with a mini foulard around yout neck
  • Don’t be afraid to wear white
  • Smoke a pipe, cigars, cigarettes (electronic is ok too) – of course I don’t suggest that you really do this, but apparenty holding something smoking in your hand is perceived as the ultimate must have accessory.

Check the pics below that prove the above written tips.

What do you think about the dandy style? Do you like it for you or your man?

Tomorrow I will upload the girl’s photos. Stay tuned <3

Thank you for reading.

  1. Loving all these looks and your blog for that matter! So glad I visited your blog after you found mine. Can’t wait to see what the ladies wore! I was just in Italy a couple of weeks ago and I was loving all the street style – Italians just generally get it right! <3 Looking forward to reading more…

    1. Thank you so much! You are right, Italians know how to dress. My style has improved so much since I moved here! I just posted the ladies looks, so you can check them if you want. Looking forward to your posts as well! Xxx

      1. I just added a post to my blog on why I’m loving Italy (and it’s vintage markets) which seems pretty relevant after reading your blog! πŸ™‚ Lucky you…getting to live there!

    1. Ahaha, don’t worry, dandy style is popular mostly amongst the sartorialists. What is becoming trendier is the genderless style. I have just been to fashion week in Milan and can tell you that you can now exchange clothes with your wife and it will be perfectly fine ( for the people aware of this trens of course ?)
