Milan: Bar Luce Fondazione Prada

Finally Milan has a new, glossy and very instagramable place. It is called Bar Luce and is the result of the collaboration between the eccentric filmmaker Wes Anderson and Fondazione Prada.

The cheerful color palettes and vintage pinball machines will take you back to the Italian pop art culture in the ’50s and the ’60s, while the modish bathroom will bring you back to the current minimalism.

The menu is quite traditional with a good selection of sandwiches for lunch, a few cakes and cocktails. I guess we will have to wait more time to have a venue with both cool design and creative options such as the melting chocolate ball or the diy hot chocolate.

Fondazione Prada occupies what was once a distillery, situated in a very unpopular neighbourhood of the city. The adjacent streets, actually, were well known as a hot spot for prostitutes and drug dealers. It is nice to see how this section of the city is now having its hip moment, attracting design lovers from all around the world.

Bar Luce is open every day from 9 am to 10 pm.

How to get there: Largo Isarco, 2; Taxi, MM Lodi ( the yellow line ) and then 10 minutes walking, tram 24 – Ripamonti/Lorenzini stop + 10 min walking

    1. Actually it was my intention to visit the museum right after the cafè but I think that I got some kind of food poisoning yesterday and decided to go home in order to avoid fainting in the middle of the artworks ? But the visit is just rain checked, photos will come soon ??

  1. Funny, when I came back from Milan I actually read about the Bar Luce and I thought it’s too bad that it didn’t open earlier. It looks so cool 🙂 Absolutely stylish!

      1. I didn’t want to say it out loud…but you are right. Damn you Wes Anderson and also the Fondazione Prada. I’ll show them. I’ll be back one day 😀
