Gardenia: Flowers and Artisan Cakes

Yesterday I was walking on one of the main streets in my old neighbourhood when I suddenly decided to shortcut through a small, winding alley. I wanted to check if there was anything new in the area and I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon another example of my favorite duo – flowers and coffee, united under the roof of Gardenia atelier.

I was thinking about visiting it another day as I had just had a breakfast in another coffee shop but at the end I didn’t resist and welcomed myself in. The location is full of light and lush plants and has a few seats where one relax and unwind for a while. The cafe serves bio tea (€ 2.50), cappuccino (€ 1.80), wine (€ 3.00), organic cookies, artistic single-portion cakes (€ 5.00), jams and pastries. I opted for the hot chocolate (€ 3.00) which was liquid, exactly as I like it. I left the pears-chocolate-cinnamon cake in my to-do list for the very near future.

Gardenia is run by Fara and Antonella (mother and daughter) who are floral architects and designers. While I was sipping my hot drink they were  discussing some ongoing garden design projects and I realized that if I had my pc or agenda in that moment I would feel like being in the perfect work environment.

Gardenia is in Gian Giacomo Mora 20, Str. in Milan. Near Colonne San Lorenzo, walking distance from the green metro stop Sant’Ambrogio (around 10 minutes) or 20 minutes from Duomo.

Open Tue-Sat 10:00-13:30; 15:30 – 19:00.
