Art, Wine & Luxury: Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà

Imagine yourself being in Veneto, Italy. In the heart of the beautiful Valpolicella valley, full of olive trees and vineyards and home to the world famous rich dry red wine Amarone. Now imagine waking up next to numerous rare and original masterpieces that would make jealous even the Museum of Modern Art in New york. The place to be if you want to make this happen is one of a kind and is called Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà.

Located in a Venetian style villa from the 15th century it belongs to the family that owns Byblos – the Italian luxury fashion brand, and showcases their impressive collection of contemporary artworks. From the lobby to the gardens to the guest rooms, both curated and site-specific works surround guests as they sleep, eat and even check in and out of the hotel (yes, I am talking about the original Basquiat behind the reception area).

When not soaking in the art it is possible to lay by the swimming pool and indulge under the bright Italian sun, have a drink in the hotel’s open air courtyard or enjoy a relaxing walk between the secular plants of the 20.000 square meters park that surrounds the villa. The latter is exactly what we did. I only regret not having a book to read while sitting on the tree swing in the middle of the lush garden. But at least I had my camera with me. And I can always return with all my library.
