Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi: Our Stay

[the_ad_placement id=”after-content”]Thailand is always in my heart even when I travel to other destinations. During my last trip to Abu Dhabi I kind of hit the jackpot as we actually stayed in a Thai managed hotel – the Dusit Thani.

I know this hotel very well from my Bangkokian adventures but I wasn’t aware it was an international chain until I saw an advertisement on a magazine in London, just three weeks before I headed to desert. It was actually talking about Dusit Thani in Abu Dhabi, what a coincidence, right? I later discovered that they also have hotels in China, the Philippines, Egypt, Kenya and the Maldives.

I enjoyed our stay a lot because I felt the Thai vibe as soon as we entered the atrium. Many of the staff are from Thailand and they were all very attentive and always smiling, Sawadeeka (Thai greeting)  was heard everywhere without being overwhelming.

Our check in was fast and easy and we headed to our room on the 26th floor with a superb view toward the mangrove forest and the Grand Mosque. I took a long and relaxing hot bath and then enjoyed watching the sun setting across Abu Dhabi. I was quite tired after the flight because I didn’t manage to sleep on board and being able to completely wind down restored all my energies.

For dinner we headed to ….. (can you guess?) …. one of the hotel’s restaurant, Benjarong, which is an award winning signature Thai restaurant that serves delectable temptations for any foodie out there.

The next morning we went to catch the sunrise on the rooftop pool, called Breeze and for a good reason. In a hindsight I would have better brought a light long dress that would flow with the wind creating some stunning photo opportunities than my swimsuit. It was nevertheless awesome to witness the first rays of light in total silence suspended above the city slowly waking up.

Why: because of the city view, the rich breakfast and the kind staff
