I was attracted by the Italian name of this coffee shop – tazzina – which means a small cup. It is actually a tiny place situated in Soi Phipat 2, very close to Chong Nonsi BTS station. The mystery of the name was revealed after the owners told me that they have worked for a long time with Italians and they still keep very good and vivid memories of those years
The English signs and menu are very inviting, considering that it is a really rare phenomenon spotting non-thai characters in the area. And actually you feel welcome as you walk in – flowers on the tables, teddy bears here and there, pillows, a large variety of magazines and books in to enjoy while sipping your coffee and of course the fantastic and kind hosts Nong and Pear who will be happy to satisfy any your (food related) request.
The menu offers a wide variety of tastes – eggs, toasts, salads, burgers, pancakes, hot drinks and refreshing giant smoothies and shakes. Rumours are spreading that they serve the best Espresso in town (if not even the best in the country). Prices are very reasonable – 70-90 bht for the hot drinks, 70 -110 bht for the smoothies and shakes, 135 – 210 bht for the burgers. The food is prepared at the moment and always served with a genuine smile.
Don’t miss this cosy place if you want to take a break from Thai food and meet many of the expats (some of them really good looking :)) residing in this area. Open everyday from 7 am to 8 pm, except every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month.
