I was brought here by a friend of mine, and she in turn was also brought here by a friend. Since it is supposed to be a secret place I guess that there is no other way to learn about its existence. Even if you happen to end up in the soi the chances that you notice it are quite low ( but will increase dramatically after you see the photo of the entrance ).
Once you are in, the magical world of Ashley Sutton appears – dramatic dim interior with a retro taste. It reminded me of the old pharmacies in China Town and the biology labs. Behind the bar two skilful mixologists, that don’t just call them like this as an excuse for serving drinks at snail pace – they really have a deep understanding of the ingredients, wait to fulfill all your (drinking) desires. There is no menu, every cocktail is handcrafted especially for you. All you need to do is to specify the desired mood of the drink, whether you want it sweet, sour, strong, with gin, vodka, etc. The prices are quite high for the Bangkokian standards ( In Milan I would feel lucky if I pay only 6 euros for a non-alcoholic cocktail) but it’s totally worth it. I’m not an expert in the alcoholic beverages but none of the labels I saw there were familiar to me (Hudson Rye? Handmade vodka?) and the local connoisseurs say that most of them can not be even found in town.
So, if you want to drop by go to Thong Lo Street, look for a small dead end soi between the odd, one digit sois. Additional hint: find the boss!
Nice… I like the atmosphere of that place.
