On the traces of communism: Raketa restaurant in Sofia

I was looking for reminders of our communist history throughout the city, when I stumbled upon, or better, I was made stumbling upon, a soviet-style restaurant, called Raketa.

The venue was so popular in the 60s that even the daughter of our head of state celebrated her marriage there.

Now it has been completely renewed but you can still feel the enchanting atmosphere of the old times thanks to the plenty of communist memorabilia that are part of the interior decor.

Raketa restaurant is 15 min walking from the famous Alexander Nevsky cathedral: Boulevard “Yanko Sakazov” 17, Sofia ( on the other side of the park ); Mon – Sun 11:00 am – 12:00 am; www.raketarakiabar.com
