If I ever get married it will be with my bare feet in the sand. But if this option is not available I wll go for the second best – a wedding in a sumptuous Italian villa. With the beauty of their picturesque settings and lush, green gardens, it is no wonder so many celebrities from around the globe come here to tie the knot.
Last weekend I had the pleasure to be part of a love fairytale in the quaint villa Manzoli in Corbetta, a small village near Milan.
I was charmed by this quiet oasis with spacious halls, decorated with frescos, stucco and and low relief elements. It literally felt like being back in time. And, of course, no villa is worthy of its name if there aren’t any ghost stories involved. The manager of the building told us that once upon a time there was a family living here. The wife apparently had a crush for the neighbour and they used to watch each other through the windows. The husband, as any jealous man would do, built a wall between the two houses. Soon after, the woman was found dead in the backyard, under her window. It is not clear if she had jumped by herself, desperate of love, or was pushed by her angry husband. Since then her ghost has been seen several times. The locals call it La Dama Bianca ( the white lady) and they believe that her apparition is a good omen. We didn’t see it on that evening.
It is possible to visit Villa Manzoli and all the other villas in Corbetta only once a year, usually the first or second Sunday of May.

Another great wedding spot. On the way to Florence from Pisa on the right side of the road is an amazing hill town. Like having your own city for the weekend.
I have seen couples get married in Jamaica on the beach, that would be a great place to get married with your toes wriggling in the sand .
