I don’t know how things work in your life but as far as I’m concerned, I only find things when I stop looking for them.
If you have been following this blog for a while, you will know that I’m always on a mission to discover new shops, eateries and designers that boast something original, whether it is the concept, the interior design or the product itself. I have learned that in some cities this is far more difficult that in the others (any reference to actual places is random ;)). So, after a few months in Milan, my hopes for the Italian fashion capital have started to fade away.
Not that there aren’t any uniquely designed venues, but they are shamelessly few.
The other day, while I was running some errands, my attention was drawn by a bunch of plants in the middle of the sidewalk. You might not know that plants and flowers are to me what a chocolate cake is to a hungry kid. I had to stop and see more of this little paradise that turned out to be a coffee shop that resembles a riad (actually the name of the place is Riad Food Garden) The venue is decorated in minimal Moroccan style, enriched with beautiful ceramics, trinkets and lush plants that are available to come home with you (in exchange for money of course).
They serve breakfast, lunch and aperitivo every day plus a Mediterranean brunch on Sunday. The lunch includes options for both vegans and meat lovers. The other day the menu featured Cous cous with Aubergines (usd 9), Raw Smoked tuna with Salad (usd 13), Grilled Chicken with Radicchio and Parmigiano (usd 13), Desserts (5 usd). The water is on the house.
The setting is perfect for a relaxing moment with friends and the staff is very lovely. What I liked most is that they pay attention to the presentation of the dishes/drinks. So far it is the only place I know here that combines beautiful concept with food styling and tempting menu options. This means that I plan to get away from it all often and transport myself to a land far away, thanks to this newly discovered Moroccan bar.
