Tabaccheria Giacomo: Vintage Bar in Milan

Tabaccheria Giacomo is another delight I recently discovered, navigating the twisting side streets of Milan. The design immediately drew my attention. It is a tiny, deco inspired bar with walls in soft green color, black and white checkered floor and French vintage furniture.

It is not just the usual bar where you go only for coffee and cigarettes. It also offers a fine selection of typical Italian products like the white truffle butter, Tropea red onions, pickled peppers, olive oils and honey from the mountains. All these delicacies are part of the interior and contribute to the cozy feeling that embraces you as soon as you enter.

I went there only for a quick cappuccino (usd 1.7), which I was enjoying sitting on the bar counter from the ‘800. Then I left. Only to return two minutes later because there were those panini (sandwiches) that were calling my name the whole time. I’m not a panini person, I don’t even remember when was the last time I had one, plus I had already lunched half an hour earlier. But those ones looked so yummy and moreover, they had pickled cucumbers inside (which is usually a taboo in Italy). So I surrendered and got one (usd 3.9), which absolutely met my high expectations. I was also told that from tomorrow they will also serve cold dishes like prosciutto and melon, cured Italian meats and cheese, fruit salads, etc.

It is also possible to have, amongst the others, a tea (usd 3.5), a glass of beer (usd 2.2), a glass of wine (usd 4.5), big sandwich (usd 7.2).

Tabaccheria Giacomo is in Sottocorno 5, Str. Open every day from 08:00 to 24:00. Easily reachable with buses, trams and not too far away from the red metro line MM San Babila. Check their website for more information.

Do you have places like this in your city or is it just an Italian thing?

*Tabaccheria means tobacco shop
