Where is the Secret Garden in Milan?

Right in the heart of Milan there is a secret garden, little known by majority of the hectic Milan’s residents. Thousands wander accross the historic center of the city, but very few discover this luxuriant, idyllic space. Personally, I can tell you that it took me only 10 years to uncover this little green gem.

It is called Orto botanico di Brera (Botanical Graden) and is right behind the glamorous Montenapoleone Street and/or the vibrant Brera district (it dipends on your perspective) but if you don’t look for it it’s impossible to stumble upon it by chance.

In my case, I learned about while reading a book about Milan but never had the chance to go (also because I couldn’t locate its exact position on the map), until a few days ago when I was heading to Bulgari hotel which is just 50m away from one of the entrances. As soon as I saw a student stepping out of what seemed like a big courtyard I knew that this was the place!

What do you think about my new leafy respite from the buzz of Milan?

How to get to the secret garden: Go to Fratelli Gabba Private Street, where Bulgari hotel is, you will see it right in front of you. Or head to Pinacoteca di Brera (Brera 28, Str.) and ask someone inside to show you the way.

It is open Mon-Sat 10:00 – 18:00 and occasionally on Sundays.

  1. Beautiful! I have been to the Pinacoteca di Brera when I was in Milan. I love arts. Although, I don’t have any knowledge about arts at all. I just know that I like it…so I often go to exhibitions. However, it’s too bad that I didn’t pass by this garden. It looks so relaxing. But there will surely be a next time…Milano is not that far away from Switzerland 😉 That’s a lovely skirt, by the way.

    1. I have been to Pinacoteca several times but never imagined there was a garden behind. I think that your list with things to do in Milan next time you come is constantly growing ? How is your office style going on btw? Did you experiment something new?

      1. Yes indeed, I have to plan one to two weeks in Milan the next time, so that I can visit all the places you recommended 😉 Actually kind of boring…I did not experiment anything new. I totally should, though. Because I really liked the pants over ankle style. I just need some new clothes. I need to do some shopping soon 😀

        1. It’s sales time now in Milan. What about Switzerland? It’s a great way to upgrade your style with something new and extravagant. I would like to take a clutch for my bf but I am always in doubt if it isn’t too much. What do you think about it?

          1. I was just told today that it is sales in Switzerland too. That’s why I went to H&M to get some new shirts 🙂

Waaaay too much, Gabi…definitely! To wear such accessories, you really have to keep the whole style in line. I don’t know about your bf, but the style has to be quite extravagant to wear a clutch. And then, it actually looks quite cool. I think, I would look ridiculous because it wouldn’t fit. However, I might change my mind eventually. You know, I am always a bit skeptical when it comes to trends in men’s fashion…but once trends get to mainstream, I follow the leaders 🙂
